Cover Reveal ~ In Search of a Prince

Today I'm taking part in the cover reveal for Toni Shiloh's In Search of a Prince.

Cover reveals always remind me of Christmas or birthdays where one is waiting in anticipation of that special something that you have been thinking and dreaming about. Well, today is just such a day. And of course, I'm not just going to just pop the cover in for a quick reveal. Reveals should be savored kind of like a favorite dessert (a Lindt Lindor truffle or a piece of Cheesecake) so here we go and enjoy.

In Search of a Prince Back short blurb –

Brielle Adebayo’s simple life unravels when she discovers she is a princess in the Kingdom of Oloro Ilé, Africa, and must immediately assume her royal position. Brielle comes to love the island’s culture and studies the language with her handsome tutor. But when her political rivals force her to make a difficult choice, a wrong decision could change her life.

Continue on to the cover reveal - yup I'm evil and keeping you in suspense but it will all be worth it in just a couple more moments. I promise!

Distraught by her mother’s betrayal, Brielle is further left spinning when the Oloro Ilé Royal Council brings up an old edict that states she must marry before assuming the throne or the crown will be passed to another. Uncertain who to choose from the council’s list of bachelors, she struggles with the decision along with the weight of her new role in a new country. With her world totally shaken, she must take a chance on love and brave the perils a wrong decision may bring.

Above the Star ~ Review with Giveaway

8th Island Trilogy by Alexis Marie Chute

Join Us for this Book Series Tour from Jul 7 to Aug 10, 2020!

Above the Star by Alexis Marie Chute
Above the Star
The 8th Island Trilogy #1
By Alexis Marie Chute

Ella Wellsley is dying. Her mother, Tessa, has given up all hope that further treatments will help. Her father, Arden, disappeared several years ago, but Ella knows that he never gave up hope of a cure being discovered. His hope is her hope, and as long as Grandpa Archie is around, she will hold onto that.

When Archie stumbles upon a clue that may lead him to Arden, he plans a family trip to the Canary Islands.  What he finds leads him a most inhuman being who offers him the promise of a cure, but there is a price.

What follows is the most unbelievable journey - the cruise ship that Archie and his family are traveling on is accidental transported to the island of  Jarr-Wyn. What follows is the most terrifying series of events that the Wellsleys had ever seen, and Archie is left with grief at the destruction and death his desire has wrought upon innocent bystanders.

Above the Star is but the first book in The 8th Island trilogy, a series that promises to reveal more as it continues. The storyline is excellent if a bit bloody and violent. Not bedtime reading by any stretch of the imagination unless your dreams are never troubled literary influences (I for one am not so I will admit to staying up late to read this). The book is intriguing, as the history of this world is slowly revealed. But this is a dying world, and those who call it home are fighting to survive. The fragile peace that exists between the races is threatened by the arrival of humans.

If you are a fan of Scifi, fantasy, and parallel worlds, this is a book you don't want to miss. The unimaginable is real, and the impossible is probable, but not everything seen with the eyes is real until it is.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Nightfall ~ Review with Giveaway

Nightfall
Clemhorn Trilogy #1
By Andrew J. Harvey

This is a world that though very similar to the one that we know is different. This is a world that has a single leader who is near death and without an heir or named successor to rule in his stead upon his death. The Clemhorn family has long been the ruling family with control over much of the world. But the instability and general unrest is beginning to prove a challenge in these days of uncertainty. Nightfall takes us into the events and closely follows the lives of the youngest Clemhorn generation Conrad, Arnold, Donald, and Ivy as they find their place in the world.

Nightfall uses the first chapters to acquaint the reader with the Clemhorn family, their cousins, and friends who are about to face something they never expected the world divided by war amongst their own forces. This is set in an alternate timeline that is in our near past but technology is an interesting mix of futuristic and late 19th/early 20th Century. Events that shaped our world never happened in this one.

Now do be aware that as this is a world in the midst of unrest and uprising there are a few scenes that are a little disturbing, in my opinion, and not for sensitive readers. That being said it is overall an interesting read that I will admit has me wondering what comes next and believe me there is a next coming with how the book ends (plus it is book one in a trilogy). If you are a fan of alternate history and military science fiction you should give this book a try.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I offer my honest opinion - all thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:After eighty years of war the remnants of humanity on the Nayarit Line struggled to survive in sealed domes, surrounded by radioactive wasteland and genetically engineered viruses. It was in the last, desperate years of the war that the first trans-temporal portal was developed at Chiqu, a small research facility on the west coast of North America. As the domes finally failed and civilization collapsed around them, Iapura led fifty-three survivors to found a new empire on a parallel Earth; an Earth where, in 1884, Russian and English armies faced each other across America’s Great Plains, totally unprepared for the technology of the invading Nayarit. The Cross-Temporal Empire now encompasses fifty-four parallel Earths. But with its ruling Council riven by dissent the death of First Leader Manet, sets the Council into a slow and irrevocable slide into civil war.

A war that threatens not only the lives of the Clemhorn siblings: Conrad, Arnold, Donald, and Ivy; but the very future of the Empire.

Thinking About ~ Jesus His Life and the Provisions of God

Thinking about worry and the cares of today. Have you worried and stayed up late borrowing troubles that might come tomorrow? Well, we are told to not worry in Matthew 6:26-34:

26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

New King James Version (NKJV)

Now if God will care for the plants of the field and the birds that live out of doors why would He not take as much concern in our day-to-day existence when we were created in His image. Instead of worry, we should instead seek Him when the cares and pressures of life try to overwhelm us.

When my father died, my family had many worries and concerns first how would we survive the loss of the head of our household and the loss of the family breadwinner. The assurance of this passage was one we turned to often during that first couple of years. But through small ways that wouldn't be impressive in the eyes of most, we were provided for. An old family friend whom we hadn't seen for several years called telling us about a job - one that provided an additional $150 to $300 a month. A job that involved listening to and transcribing old radio sermons - not only did this provide for our daily needs it provided for our spiritual needs as well.

By giving tomorrow's unknown troubles to God we can rest in the assurance that He will provide if we can see that sometimes His provisions are not given with grand fanfare or even with over-abundance but rather what we need for today - just like His provision of manna for those who were wandering in the wilderness.

When Jesus commanded Peter to "feed His lambs and care for His sheep" we can know that this care continues today and will continue into every tomorrow to come. With Easter soon upon us, it is important to remember that the greatest need we will ever have has been provided for - the gift of forgiveness and eternal life.

Synopsis:
“Jesus: His Life” explores the story of Jesus Christ through a unique lens: the people in his life who were closest to him. Each of the eight chapters is told from the perspective of different biblical figures, all of whom played a pivotal role in Jesus’ life including Joseph, John the Baptist, Mary Mother of Jesus, Caiaphas, Judas Iscariot, Pontius Pilate, Mary Magdalene and Peter.

Each figure takes a turn guiding viewers through the emotional and epic story of the most famous man in history, through his birth, death and resurrection, all conveyed through a combination of scripted drama and interviews with prominent religious and historical experts. Utilizing some of the world’s most respected Biblical scholars, historians, faith leaders and theologians, the series weaves together the canonical Gospels, historical sources and cultural context to create a complete portrait of Jesus – the man and the Messiah.  The series finale airs this Monday, April 15 on The History Channel at 8pm ET/PT.

Dumbo Thoughts and Musings

DUMBO has to be everyone's favorite elephant. After all, he is so cute and those big ears what's not to love. Well, Dumbo is about to again get the big screen treatment in an all-new movie set to release on March 29, 2019.

Have you ever thought about joining the circus? If so what would you be or do? If I'd ever join a circus I would work with the animals. Most likely the horses and dogs. Brushing them so their coats would gleam beneath the lights as they went through their choreographed dances. The horses would have their hooves polished and would flash as they trotted beneath the tent.

The dogs would prance and jump - excited to hear the crowds cheer them on.  The littlest one would have no fears dancing around the ring and in a moment of exuberance leap upon ever climbing mounting block until she could lightly leap upon the backs of one of the horses.

The excitement of the show would slowly ebb away as the night came in and then the norma; quiet of crowd-less seats would fill the night. The animals would need a soothing hand to once again brush them down allowing them to relax for the next few hours. The horses would be offered water and feed (hay). The dogs would run around chasing one another as if a show had never taken place or as if they were children released from the confines of a schoolroom. And when my tasks of care would be done I'd visit with the other caregivers discussing our four-legged friends and the amusing events or exasperating events that filled our day.

What would you do? Give your imagination wings and let it take you away to the circus of your dreams. Who knows maybe there is a Dumbo waiting for your loving attention.

About The Movie (Synopsis)

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, “Dumbo” expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished, and dreams take flight.   Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.

“Dumbo” soars into theaters on March 29.
