Scarlet Moon ~ Review

Scarlet Moon
Children of the Blood Moon #1
By S.D. Grimm

Someone is targeting the children who were born on the night of the Blood Moon and the fate of a world is in the balance. The Children of the Blood Moon all have an identifying birthmark and skills that have gifted them. But with people intent on capturing them no one is safe - not their families, their friends, or their villages.

With villages destroyed and evidence pointing to the Feravolk as the guilty party Queen Idla provides the comfort and encouragement the people seek. But evil is at work and not all is as it seems to be. And caught up in this onslaught of evil is Jayden, a young woman whose very family is destroyed by those seeking the gifted. But Jayden is more than just one of the Children of the Moon - she maybe one of the four Deliverers who were prophesied.

But surviving long enough to find out what exactly a Deliverer is suppose to be and do may take all of Jayden's skills along with those of her new allies and friends.  Time is short and the danger is great. Bonds will be forged, sacrifices made, and lives will be lost.  Loyalties will be questioned and evil will have its day. But who will win this battle and gain an advantage in the war that seems sure to be coming.

Scarlet Moon is one book you'll have trouble putting down if you like books that hint at something greater is yet to come. Fans of Jill Williamson's Kinsman Chronicles and Nadine Brandes's Out of Time series will love this debut. My only complaint is I now have to wait for the second book  to come out.  I highly recommend this book for fans of Speculative Fiction. I totally love the cover - it so portrays the danger and all its facets wonderfully!

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a positive review or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Destiny can pick someone else. Evil is slipping through the cracks of its prison, and all Soleden trembles in its wake. Yet some would harness that evil to their own ends, and first among them is Idla, the sorceress queen bent on distorting the world.

Only one can stand in her way: Jayden. Upon realizing her mark as the prophesied Deliverer, Jayden conceals herself from her enemies and her Feravolk countrymen. But after the harm the Feravolk caused to her family, she s loath to rescue the not-so-innocent.

Hiding her mark was never easy, but now that Jayden knows both Queen Idla and the Feravolk are after her, hiding her gift of the Blood Moon will be impossible.

Candle Day by Day Walk with Jesus ~ Review

Candle Day by Day Walk with Jesus
By Juliet David
   Illustrated by Jane Heyes

Read the story of Jesus in 40 Days

This is a delightful book that tells the story of Jesus from the announcement to Mary that she was to be the mother of a special baby through His Ascension. The story is broken into 40 days with illustrations that will help children visualize what is being shared.

The stories are short so as to hold the attention of even the smallest span. This would be an excellent nightly devotional for the family to share together. The Christmas story takes place over 7 days and would be a timely week before Christmas reminder of the true reason for the season.

This hardcover book is small so even the smallest lap sitter could hold this during the reading. There are a total of 48 pages with 40 of them for the textual portions of the story. The illustrations are colorful with a few pages dedicated solely to illustrations. This would be a delightful gift to a young or expecting family.

I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a review positive or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
This beautiful gift book makes a wonderful addition to the award-winning Candle Day by Day collection. The story of Jesus's life is told over forty days, and presented in the elegant day-by-day styling with page borders and richly colored pictures. Includes an introductory note to suggest how the book could be used.

Storm ~ Review

Storm
The Stone Braide Chronicles #3
By Bonnie S. Calhoun

This is the third book in the Stone Braide Chronicles following Thunder and Lightning. The series has been following Selah Rishon Chavez who on her 18th birthday began a transformation - a transformation that was her heritage and of which she was unaware of. But this transformation is a curse in that Selah has to leave all she knows and loves behind as she becomes one of people her father and brothers have been hunting.

But this journey of transformation has allowed Selah to grow in both who she is as a person and as a novarium. And adding to the pressure Selah is the culmination of a 150 year old mystery that will change humanity. But time has forgotten much of what is necessary for Selah to complete the task that lies before her - and unfortunately for her time is running out. No novarium has yet completed the Third Protocol all have fractured or been lost to those who have been hunting them.

With betrayal possible at any moment Selah moves forward in her quest with a close circle of those whom she trusts - her mother, her brother Dane, her sister Mari, Bohdi, and Rylla. As they race across a world that has been closed off from them for generations they have to brave the unknown searching for the key that will lead them to their ultimate destination hopefully before Selah fractures and her sanity is gone.

I liked this series but this book left several questions hanging. First what exactly are the Stone Braide Chronicles? Second what exactly does the Third Protocol do? Third is there more to come or is this the complete story? I really feel this book left me with more questions than answers and I want more. Why was all of this started and is it complete?

This book was a bit of a let down after the previous books and the resolution happened too quickly for what happened during the rest of the book and series. Maybe if more of my questions had been answered I'd be more satisfied with the conclusion.

I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a review - positive or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Selah's mind and life are beginning to fracture.
Can she complete the Third Protocol
                                                             before it's too late?

As Selah and her companions mourn the loss of those who died in the Mountain, they are faced with a new threat. Selah must complete the Third Protocol before she fractures and loses herself completely. All clues lead to the West, but what will they find when they get there? The other side of the mountains holds unknown perils--volcanic ash, dangerous storms, and strange new settlements that could hold the keys to Selah's quest . . . or lead to her destruction.

The clock is ticking and Selah's abilities are growing--along with the list of those out for her blood. Selah must find the strength within herself to keep going and complete the mission for which so many have sacrificed so much.

But have she and her companions pinned their hopes on nothing more than a legend?

Home on the Range ~ Review

Home on the Range

Nick Stafford is the brother who remained to help run the ranch. His life should have been perfect - a beautiful wife, two precious daughters. He's a better husband and father than his own father was.

But something went wrong - his wife left him years ago and his daughters are suffering from this lack. Nick needs help but he's determined to make it on his own.

But when his daughter Cheyenne is order to get counseling or be removed from school Nick is forced to take action he never wanted for himself or his girls. Can Doctor Elsa Andreas truly work a change in Cheyenne and help Nick keep Dakota from following her older sister's path?

But Elsa has a secret that has kept her in the shadows for the last year - an event that she feels personally responsible for has kept her from helping others. Elsa needs to heal and helping the Staffords just might allow her to see beyond her past and have a hope for tomorrow.

Before any healing can take place though Nick must come to terms with his past - both his childhood and his marriage. And his past is about to make a reappearance in a big way and all of Gray's Glen is about to witness it.  Nick's biggest issue is he's trying to one-up his father and in so doing is making decisions that are not the best for him or his family.

Home on the Range takes up shortly after the events of Back in the Saddle.  The Stafford brothers along with their ailing father - Sam are hoping to heal the rifts that they have caused over the years as Sam built up the Double S Ranch. Their efforts to help rebuild the sections of Gray's Glen that were destroyed by fire are underway.

I enjoyed this second book in the series and have to say I'm looking forward to Trey's story of which there is a short sneak peek at the end of the book. This story is complete in itself in telling Nick's story.  The first book was Colt's story and it would be worth your time to read Back in the Saddle as some of the back story for this book was revealed there.

I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a review positive or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Can the brother left behind and
a woman without hope work together

for the good of two precious children?

Nick Stafford stayed in central Washington, working his family’s large ranch after his brothers left to pursue other passions—but his toughest job is being a single dad. For Dr. Elsa Andreas, life fell apart when tragedy caused her to abandon her family therapy practice and retreat to the backwoods of Gray’s Glen. Her school principal sister believes Elsa can guide the Stafford girls and that working with kids will draw Elsa out of her protective bubble.

Summer on the Double S teems with life and adventure. Amid the bounty of God and land, will Nick and Elsa find the courage to build futures based on faith rather than fear?

No Peace with the Dawn ~ Review

No Peace with the Dawn
By E.B. Wheeler
    and Jeffery Bateman

A Novel of the Great War

The world is at war - though America has yet to enter the fray.  And for the young men and women who are seeking to make their way in this world Utah seems far removed from this carnage that has enveloped Europe.

But these young people are determined to make a difference no matter where their paths may take them. But can a world being torn apart allow a person to hold firmly to the beliefs that have shaped them and give their lives meaning? Or will the prejudices and horrors of war forever change them?

Reed Lewis is a young man from an agricultural background who is determined to be the best at everything he does and he is a bit of a flirt. His occasional impulsiveness can add more work to his life but he is a caring and dedicated person. He joins the Marines and proves his ability to lead.

Joseph Sorrell is a young Shoshone known for his skills on the race track with his mare Buckskin Nelly. He hopes that his efforts in the war will earn him the US citizenship he seeks. His friendship with Bert Lyman brings him into this circle of friends who see him as a person.

Clara Jensen works to open new doors that will allow her and all women to be seen as equals who deserve to be seen as people. She's willing to do her bit by serving overseas with the YMCA and her feisty attitude won't allow her to give up a cause she believes in.

Trudi Kessler is a Swiss-German immigrant who gives of what she has to help aid those whom the war has displaced. But in a world at war her very heritage is held against her by those who allow fear to dictate their prejudices.

The horrors of war are experienced by those both at home and abroad. And those who come home have to live with what they saw and did.

This book opens in November 1915 and concludes in April 1920. Sometimes it is hard to realize just how much happened during this decade. There is a reference to the sinking of the Titanic and even though I've been aware that this took place in 1912 it was a bit of a shock that it was so soon afterwards that the world was at war. The prejudices that were so prevalent are rather surprising - I seriously didn't realize some of the everyday things that had to be renamed because of their Germanic links.

This is an interesting look into the past - there is not much WWI fiction that focuses on residents of Utah to my knowledge. Take a step back in time that is approximately a century long with No Peace with the Dawn. In some ways this book makes me realize just how little we've accomplished in the last century in regard to the prejudices that have a way of tearing us apart.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
In 1917, the Great War seems far from Logan, Utah. But soon it will change the lives of suffragette and mechanic Clara, Swiss-German immigrant and LDS convert Trudi, Marine Corps volunteer Reed, and Shoshone seeking U.S. citizenship Joseph. This novel weaves real events with compelling fictional characters into a sweeping tale of war, romance, self-discovery, and sacrifice.
About the Authors:
E.B. Wheeler grew up in Georgia and California. She earned her BA in history from BYU and has graduate degrees in British history and landscape architecture from Utah State University. She’s the award-winning author of “The Haunting of Springett Hall,” the historical romance “Born to Treason” and is a member of the League of Utah Writers. She lives in northern Utah with her family.

Following his military career, Jeff worked as a civilian historian at the Air Force Research Laboratory and the Air Force Flight Test Center. A Primary Decision ~ Review

A Primary Decision
The Worthington Destiny #3
By Dr. Kevin Leman
                and Jeff Nesbit

Sarah Worthington has always been the baby sister and her parents princess, but she's determined for them to see and recognize her as something else.  When President Spencer offers her the chance at becoming US Attorney General Sarah sees herself one step closer to her dream.

But the recent path the Worthingtons have been on has been one fraught with setbacks as someone seems intent on targeting the siblings and bringing them down.  But who is working in the shadows against them? And how much do they know about the Worthingtons and the secrets they are keeping?

As small gains are made in the Polar Bear Bomber investigation more questions are brought to light. But can evidence be discovered that will clear Sean before the photos that ended Will's political run are made public? Or will Sean's seemingly chance meeting with a stranger derail Sarah's dreams as well?

As secrets create divides withing the Worthingtons they will need to learn that their greatest strength lies in their family ties and their love. This is an interesting look at family and friendship. What brings some people together while driving others away? Why do some do anything to protect those closest to them while others only use for their own benefit and gain?

The Worthington Destiny is an enjoyable series that definitely keeps one guessing as to whom certain mysterious persons are.  One has ideas as the story arrives at its satisfying conclusion but the thread of mystery just adds a greater depth to the story.

The reader doesn't have to read the first two books to enjoy this book as each book focuses on a different sibling, though all of the Worthingtons are fully fleshed out as characters in each story.  But I would recommend reading all three books as there is a story thread that runs throughout the series.

I was provided a free review copy of this book by the publisher with no expectation of a review positive or otherwise - all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
The road to power and position
is fraught with perils,
even for a Worthington.

But Sarah does not intend to lose.

Sarah Worthington never expected to become the US attorney general--at least not this early in her career. Plunged into the vicious vetting process, with all sides digging for secrets in her family closet, she steels herself for the path forward. Nothing will deter her from making her mark on the world in the biggest way possible--even if that means prosecuting the current president of the United States.

Yet powerful forces conspire behind the scenes to take the Worthington family down, and the president orders her to close the investigation. Will she comply? Or turn the tables to pursue her ultimate dream--the US presidency?

Mardok and the Seven Exiles ~ Review

Mardok and the Seven Exiles
RoboTales #2
By Jill Williamson
        and Luke Williamson

Mardok and the Seven Exiles is set on the planet Dabon and Cadet Riv Mardok, a member of the Space Force Military Training Academy, has uncovered a disturbing fact. Unfortunately his evidence has been made unavailable to him. But Mardok isn't one to sit around and do nothing which for him might prove the worst possible thing to do.

Soon Mardok finds himself assigned by General Gruss himself to find the elusive Ice Beast rumored to live in the remote regions of Mount Squarra.  No one has ever returned from such a mission before and Mardok is determined to both stop the Ice Beast and return.

All too soon Mardok finds himself in need of rescue and fortunately for him he is discovered by Robo, a mechanized canine intelligence who proves resourceful in extricating our hero with an ego. Robo leads Mardok to a cabin within the Blackwood Forest where he soon meets the seven exiles from the academy who also discovered disturbing events with ties to the academy and General Gruss.

Can these 8 young men along with Robo stop what could be the end of their worlds and lives as they know it? And who is really behind everything? Once again Robo may give an advantage to whom most needs his special skills.

This is the fun sequel to Tinker and one just can't help rooting for Robo to come out on top in whatever role he plays. And Mardok learns the importance of working together rather than relying on his own strengths.

This book is aimed at the middle grade reader and should keep even a reluctant reader reading with enjoyment. This story though the second in the series is able to be enjoyed without first reading Tinker. The only recurring character is Robo and these are his tales.  From the title one thinks Snow White but don't be fooled this is a tale that will appeal boys who aren't into fairy tales.

I was provided an ARC of the book by the author with no expectation of a review positive or otherwise - all expressed opinions are my own.

About the Book:
Strange things are happening at the Space Force Military Academy. General Gruss believes the Ice Beast is responsible and asks cadet Riv Mardok to hunt down the menace. Mardok, always eager to "protect the helpless," accepts the quest, but when he finds himself trapped, alone in the forest, his bravery isn't enough to save him. Mardok has no choice but to call for help. The question is: will anyone answer?

The Shattered Vigil ~ Review

The Shattered Vigil
The Darkwater Saga #2
By Patrick W. Carr

Their victory over the Darkwater forces during the feast of Bas-solas should have given them a reprieve in their war against the growing darkness. But all too soon the Vigil learns the true cost of their victory - it has provided cover for the enemy's latest attack. And the Vigil is vulnerable to this newest threat that has come against them ~ an enemy that cannot be seen.

Willet Dura has yet to gain the Vigil's trust due to the vault hidden within his mind - a vault that cannot be opened and may be linked to his night within the Darkwater Forest. Yet he, along with the street urchins he has befriended, may be the Vigil's best hope for survival. For survival has just become their greatest priority when yet another member goes missing.

With the darkness tightening its grip, the Vigil is faced with a choice reveal what they know and submit to the church.  Or they scatter to the far reaches of the Northern Continent searching for answers to the questions now confronting them while staying ahead of those hunting them.

Meanwhile Willet is forced to confront his feelings for Gael and her refusal to accept his decision to leave her behind.  And then there is Willet's friendship with Ealdor which was brought into question by the Vigil in The Shock of Night.

If possible this second book in the series is even better than the first and the ending leaves the reader wondering what comes next. The Shattered Vigil is the perfect name for this book as it describes the book in three words. And, yes, you do have to read the first book to fully appreciate this series.

The writing style of Patrick Carr is fantastic as it draws one into the story - one can easily see why he is an award-winning writer.  If you enjoy fantasy that has a spiritual undercurrent get ready to be transported to a world where the lines between darkness and light are becoming harder to discern.

I received a free review copy of this book from the publisher. No review, positive or otherwise, was required—all opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Victory over the dark forces during the feast of Bas-solas should have guaranteed safety for the continent. Instead, Willet and the rest of the Vigil discover they've been outsmarted by those seeking to unleash the evil that inhabits the Darkwater. Jorgen, the member of the Vigil assigned to Frayel, has gone missing, and new attacks have struck at the six kingdoms' ability to defend themselves.

Just when the Vigil thought they had quenched the menace from their enemy in Collum, a new threat emerges: assassins hunting the Vigil, men and women who cannot be seen until it's too late. The orders of the church and the rulers of the kingdoms, fearing the loss of the Vigil's members altogether, have decided to take them into protective custody to safeguard their gift. On Pellin's orders, the Vigil scatters, leaving Willet to be taken prisoner by the church in Bunard.

In the midst of this, Willet learns of the murder of an obscure nobleman's daughter by one of the unseen assassins. Now he must escape his imprisonment and brave the wrath of the church to find the killer in order to turn back this latest threat to the northern continent.

The Other Einstein ~ Review

The Other Einstein
By Marie Benedict

Mileva Marić was determined to master both physics and mathematics. In 1896 the Swiss Federal Polytechnic university in Zürich, Switzerland was one of the few places that allowed women to enter its doors of higher education and earn a degree. In a world that frowned upon women pursuing education Mileva had another strike against her - her Serbian heritage.

She was resigned to the life of an academic but then she met Albert Einstein and her life and history were forever altered. As a fellow student at Polytechnic Albert Einstein forced, through persistence, his way into Mileva's life. But academia and romance were not an option for a woman intent on pursuing the higher sciences and science was the passion that Mileva's heart desired.

But when Albert pulled her into the world of intellectual discussion with her fellow students a new world of thought and collaboration opened before her. And for the first time in her life Mileva considered the possibility of a life that held the promise of both science and marriage.

When Albert promises her a life as his equal Mileva allows herself to be swayed be his unique and disheveled charms. But loving a genius is no easy task as Mileva soon discovers. And the sacrifices she makes for her role in the collaboration of Ein Stein as her husband references them will have a marked effect on her life.

The Other Einstein is a look at a marriage that is at times beautiful and at other times troubling.  It would be interesting to see how different Mileva's life would have been had she been born in a different time or if she had crossed paths with Albert Einstein only as a fellow student. His was an overpowering and oppressive personality that Mileva too late recognized. He was too busy blaming others for his problems when it likely could be laid at his own lack of personal drive and ego.

The Other Einstein focuses on Mileva and her thoughts and feelings but it is obvious that the man who promised to treat her as an equal resented her role in his success and was determined to keep her and contributions hidden away in the shadows. But Mileva was a woman who overcame obstacles throughout her life and Albert's unexpected change was the latest to overcome.

This is a book that adds a hidden facet to the life of Albert Einstein and world that he called his own. Historical fiction can be a tricky subject to tackle and Marie Benedict manages to not only conquer it but make it fascinating as one leaves one century behind for another.

I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinions.

About the Book:
A vivid and mesmerizing novel about the extraordinary woman who married and worked with one of the greatest scientists in history.

What secrets may have lurked in the shadows of Albert Einstein’s fame? His first wife, Mileva “Mitza” Marić, was more than the devoted mother of their three children—she was also a brilliant physicist in her own right, and her contributions to the special theory of relativity have been hotly debated for more than a century.

In 1896, the extraordinarily gifted Mileva is the only woman studying physics at an elite school in Zürich. There, she falls for charismatic fellow student Albert Einstein, who promises to treat her as an equal in both love and science. But as Albert’s fame grows, so too does Mileva’s worry that her light will be lost in her husband’s shadow forever.

A literary historical in the tradition of The Paris Wife and Mrs. PoeThe Other Einstein reveals a complicated partnership that is as fascinating as it is troubling.

Twilight at Blueberry Barrens ~ Review

Twilight at Blueberry Barrens
A Sunset Cove Novel #3
By Colleen Coble

Kate Mason is struggling to make it to another blueberry season and renting out the cottage on her property seems like the perfect solution. And when Drake Newham and his two young nieces show up looking for a place to stay for the summer Kate feels her immediate concerns for her financial situation may be answered, especially as Drake is looking to hire a nanny for the summer.

But danger is lurking amid the lovely charms of Sunset Cove, Maine, and peace of mind and lives are at risk. Drake has left his life in Boston behind searching for answers about the deaths of his brother and sister-in-law. With evidence of a stalker roaming the island and reports that Kate's uncle has escaped prison intent on making Claire pay for her role in his arrest Folly Shoals doesn't feel quite as safe.

Will twilight fall on the blueberry barrens? Or will there be a promise of a new sunrise to look forward to?

Twilight at Blueberry Barrens is an emotional journey as life is experienced in all its stages - beginnings and endings with unexpected detours and stops along the way. When faced with betrayal just how far will it push you before you succumb to its pressure?  The answer to this question may allow them to understand just what is going before it is too late...

Romance, mystery, and life all come together in Sunset at Blueberry Barrens in a book that will keep you turning the pages. This is the third book in the series and it is best if you read the previous books before reading this one just so you'll grasp the dynamics between the characters better. I have to admit Colleen Coble is able to bring to life characters one absolutely loves and some that can make one shudder. Get ready for some late night reading! Can you figure out who is behind it all or will you too be taken unaware as were the characters who grace the pages?

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher through the Fiction Guild with no expectation of a positive review.  All opinions expressed are my own.

About the Book:
“I need you to keep these girls safe . . .”
Kate Mason has devoted herself to caring for her family’s blueberry barrens. But after her fields stop producing fruit, she’s forced to come up with alternative ways to make a living.
Renting out the small cottage on her property seems an obvious choice, but it won’t be enough. When entrepreneur Drake Newham shows up looking not only for a place to rent but also for a nanny for his two nieces, it’s almost too good to be true. And maybe it is—because Drake brings with him dangerous questions about who might be out to kill his family. The more time Kate spends with Drake and the girls, the more difficult it becomes to hide her attraction to him. But a family crisis isn’t exactly the ideal time to pursue a romance.
Meanwhile, Kate learns that her uncle—in prison for murder—has escaped. Add to that a local stalker who won’t leave her alone, and Kate is looking over her shoulder at every turn. With threats swirling from multiple directions, she wonders if her blueberry fields will ever flourish again . . . or if this twilight is her last.
Set on the beautiful coast of Maine, Twilight at Blueberry Barrens brings together suspense, romance, and the hope that one day new life will come again.

Jesus Rode a Donkey ~ Review

Jesus Rode a Donkey
Why Millions of Christians Are Democrats
By Linda Seger, Th.D.

Politics is something that can divide people and even the Church can be split when it comes to political allegiance.  But with Jesus Rode a Donkey Linda Seger looks beyond the party platforms and looks at the heart of the issue.

When voting one needs to look at how an individual candidate has portrayed their beliefs in their life and action not just in their official platform.  The election process is one fraught with decisions that weigh upon the soul. How do I vote? Should I focus on the party platform? The individual's spoken stand? Or the candidate's life as a whole?

Looking at the two major parties, the greatest difference is seemingly the role of religion in America. But looking at the founding of our nation one has to acknowledge that the foundations were liberal in nature - the very idea of freedom was an unheard of concept. A monarchy free government, freedom to worship without a state endorsed religion, and the promise of equality were ideas of change.

But equality's promise has not been enjoyed by all throughout America's history. And this is where our focus should be - WWJD (what would Jesus do?). Jesus came to those society looked down upon. He associated with the poor, the outcast, the ill. He showed neighborly love to all and didn't allow the dictates of society to determine whom should be His neighbor. How can we do any less?

Whether one agrees with the views of the author this is an interesting look at politics, Christianity, and America. Jesus rode a donkey when He entered Jerusalem and a donkey was symbolic with the lowly life He lived starting with His birth in a stable.

I was provided a copy of this book by the author through TBCN/BookFun with no expectation of a positive review and all opinions are my own.

About the Book:

If Jesus were alive today, would he: feed the poor - or give tax breaks to the super rich? Comfort the old and infirm - or cut Social Security? Build bridges that unite - or build walls that divide? Make peace - or make war?

In this ground breaking book, noted author and theologian Linda Seger, Th.D., explores what it means to be a Christian and a Democrat - and shows how the two are not mutually exclusive but rather inclusive. She reveals the close relationship between Democratic policy and Jesus' teachings and the many ways in which the values Jesus espouses in the Bible correspond to the values Democrats call their own. The idea that America's real Christians vote strictly Republican crumbles when one studies the platforms of both parties.

Jesus Rode a Donkey reminds the reader that Jesus and the prophets had a radical, progressive message that calls individuals and nations to feed the hungry, help the poor, heal the sick, care for the earth, free the oppressed, and love our enemies.

The book won the Silver Medal Christian Living Illumination Book Award given for exemplary Christian writing.
