Armchair BEA - It's a Wrap!

It's a Wrap!

Well, my first Armchair BEA has come and is now going, going, gone...
Well, not quite gone yet.  There is time to say goodbye and thank-you.

It has been fun to meet so many fellow bloggers located throughout our world.
I hope to repeat this again next year.

I loved some of the tips I picked-up from what you were willing to share.

The twitter parties were interesting and at times hard to follow especially when
Twitter would seem to get into a momentary overload with all the networking
and sharing going on all at once.

To everyone who visited I extend a special thank you for your insights and comments
and I hope to make use of some of your tips.

Thank you for a exciting week!

Armchair BEA Day 5- Ask the Experts

Armchair BEA Day 5- Ask the Experts

My Question for the Experts:
What is your favorite source for review copies?
Is it from the publisher, the author, a PR Blog Tour company,
or is it from an online distributors (NetGalley or Edelweiss)?

My Advice for Bloggers:
Read what you like, but don't be afraid of other genres.
You may be surprised at what you may discover!
If a publisher offers an e-newsletter, sign-up for it!
This is great way to find out about new and upcoming books.
Read for the love of reading, if it becomes a chore or just
a deadline to meet you will lose the joy!

Be sure to comment - Thanks!

Armchair BEA day 4 - Beyond Blogging

Beyond Blogging

Hmmm, I've made some new friends.
I've had a few reviews picked up by Midwest Book Reviews.
But I have not made money at it, though it would be nice.

I have a large insight into books than I use to
so I can recommend more titles or authors
when friends and family ask for a suggestion.

But I'd say because of my reading and blogging
I've grown as a person with what I have learned.
I've read history, science, and philosophy
and my mind is learning daily.

So I'd say bloggings biggest payoff for me
has been as a learning experience.

Look forward to the Guest post @ Armchair BEA later today!

Armchair BEA Day 3 - Networking

Armchair BEA - How do I network?
When it comes to networking I use several community outlets.
I use my local library to post about up coming blogging tours,
author interviews, and book giveaways.
I also make use of the local television stations and their
online community calendar to reach a larger audience.
I also send a community happenings notice to my
local newspaper for the interviews and giveaways.

I also let my friends and family help spread
the word through e-mail and face-to-face conversations.
I also post events on Facebook, Twitter, DiggIt,
and LinkedIn.

How do you spread the word about your blog?
Please comment!

Armchair BEA 2012 Interview Questions

1 Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

My name is Meagan.  I started reviewing books in 2000.  My blogging has been part of my online presence for about 1-1/2 years.  I got into blogging because I liked the idea of helping a book get noticed through bogging tours.

What are you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so far in 2012?

I'm currently reading Prophet by J.R. Larson, Arctic Wargames by Ethan Jones, The Anniversary Waltz by Darrel Nelson, just to name a few.  So far my favorite books from 2012 have been Candlewax, Love Twelve Miles Long and The Tales of Goldstone Wood.

3 Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you.

I live on a small hobby farm and am a dach-aholic (dachshund lover).

4 What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?

I love doing author interviews and the chance to get to know the person behind the book that I just finished reading.

5 What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

Lackanay - from Candlewax, I'd like to see the trees that always burn. I'd also like to see Narnia just because.
