From an Unknown Sender
Falcon Point Suspense #2
By Traci Hunter Abramson
    and Sian Ann Bessey

CIA operative Cole Bridger is tracking down smugglers when fellow operative Isabelle Roberts, who also happens to be his girlfriend, diverts a package from its original destination. The only problem is that doing so puts Cole's cousin Tess in danger.

Soon Tess's brother Lars and his girlfriend Merit are once again pulled into the clandestine and dangerous world that is Cole's life. As they try to determine exactly who or what is behind everything they find themselves getting even deeper into an international mess that could see them dead.

From an Unknown Sender brings the reader once again into the lives of the heirs of Falcon Point. But if you are unfamiliar with the previous books in this multi-author series no worries as this book can be read on its own.

I love the interactions between Cole and Lars as they navigate their newly discovered familial link while having to deal with Cole's CIA ties and the obvious limits it puts on everything. This is a clean read that offers suspense and danger as both men deal with romance and the risks involved not only to their hearts but to the ones who hold them. I highly recommend this book and the series. I love the family aspects of this series which I believe is its greatest strength.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

It's Your Love ~ Review

It's Your Love JustRead Blog Tour

Welcome to the Blog Tour for
It's Your Love by Rachel D. Russell,

It's Your Love

It's Your Love
Fox Family #2
By Rachel D. Russell

Sometimes things just seem to go wrong, and for Greyson Fox that seems to be the pattern his life is currently stuck in. So getting a call to help out at the camp that changed his life seems like an answer to something. Returning to Deep Haven was never on his to-do list, but it is a step towards fulfilling his dream.  What he never expected was seeing seeing Beth Strauss again.

She was the girl in high school who he left behind (though at the time he didn't know it- teenager and all that). Well lets just say their first meeting had a bookish tone to it. And then to top off everything she is about to be his boss for summer! Let's just say starting his youth ranch in Oregon is about to lose some of it's appeal.

Second chances at getting it right in Deep Haven are never easy. Nor is the path to finding love. And believe me there is more than one obstacle in the path of love and starting over.

This is a fun return to Deep Haven and the Fox family. But this time brother Greyson gets his chance. I love how the grandkids are slowly being drawn back home in this series. Maybe the saying you can't return home doesn't apply to Deep Haven, MN, because they seem more than willing to welcome back those who have left it behind. This is a sweet contemporary romance that will leave you in a happy place. So crack open the cover and settle down for another (or a first time visit) to a place you wouldn't mind calling home.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Worse…she’s his boss. But Grayson has big hopes for a life back in Oregon, and he must keep the promise to the camp in order to keep his dreams alive.

Just because Beth Strauss has stuck around Deep Haven doesn’t mean she doesn’t want a bigger life. And becoming the camp assistant director is the first step to that bigger life. Of course, standing in her way happens to be the one man who has always managed to derail her dreams, way too arrogant Grayson Fox.

But if they want to keep the camp afloat and their dreams alive, these two must learn to work together. But will these enemies become sweethearts, and if they do, will they find something better than the dreams they’re striving for?

The next delightful installment of the Fox Family series!

To Heal a Broken Heart ~ Review

To Heal a Broken Heart
A Beauty and the Beast Retelling
The Shattered Tales
By Aveline Brooke

Anelise never expected to have her heart shattered by the man she had known for years. Nor did she expect to be forced into a marriage she didn't want. But she is looking at a future without love unless she can find someone who will make her a love potion.

But can she trick herself into a false happily-ever-after? But it looks like her only hope lies with the man who broke her heart.

Lucien has been cursed since he broke the heart of the only woman he ever loved by a single act of betrayal. When he is given a chance to aid her, he does all he can at the cost of his own heart.

This is truly a unique twist on Beauty and the Beast. There is a beast and what beast he is! But the question is what makes a man a beast?

This is an interesting addition to the retellings of Beauty and the Beast and intriguing part of the Shattered Tales Collection. This is a book that can and should be judged by it's cover, you won't be disappointed. The characters and setting are engaging. This was an up-all-night kind of book in my opinion, and I was up all night reading it. I just had to know would Anelise find her heart's desire or would she settle for the lie?

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Book Description:
Love is not a fairytale.

Anelise is a romantic young lady who wants nothing more than a loving, faithful marriage, and she knows she has found her prince. Or, rather, her wizard. Her childhood friend Lucien is young, handsome, and shows promise as he trains to become the next Royal Enchanter. But when he breaks her heart in a shocking betrayal, Anelise’s entire perception of love — and the trustworthiness of men — is utterly shattered.

Months later, when Anelise is blackmailed into an engagement to a man who cares for monogamy as little as the dust on his boot, at first, she falls into despair. But then she realizes the one thing that can save her heart: a love potion.

To her surprise, all the nearby wizards refuse to make it, and Anelise is reduced to seeking help from the very man who hurt her the most.

But when she knocks on Lucien’s tower door, the masked wizard who answers it seems quite different from the boy she knew before.

Lucien is shocked to see Anelise at his door. Although it is the last thing he wants to do, Lucien knows that creating this love potion for her is the only chance he has at proving that he has changed… Until he realizes the disastrous reality that awaits her if she drinks it.

To Heal a Broken Heart is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It is one of twelve novellas in The Shattered Tales, a collection of twelve fractured retellings of your favorite fairy tales. They can be enjoyed in any order, so fall in love with the swoony sweet romance, magical adventures, and tale-shattering twists one happily-ever-after at a time!

The Lord and the Lady Astronomer ~ Review

The Lord and the Lady Astronomer JustRead Blog + Review Tour

Welcome to the Blog + Review Tour for
The Lord and the Lady Astronomer by Alissa Baxter,

The Lord and the Lady Astronomer The Lord and the Lady Astronomer
 The Grantham Girls #3
 By Alissa Baxter

Abigail Grantham is beyond pleased when her uncle, Lord Longmore, invites her to aid him in his newest astronomical endeavor. Abigail will  be helping her uncle and his neighbor, Viscount William Rochvale chart the night sky. While Abigail is more than happy to lend a hand, she hopes to observe a comet.

William never expected to be intrigued by Lord Longmore's niece, but   Abigail is not only intelligent but beautiful and she shares several of the same interests that he does.  A potential romance seems likely, until Wiliam's less than suitable, flirtatious cousin Gerald Burnby decides to pay her particular attention. But Abigail, though drawn to Gerald"s looks and lively personality has been warned away about a potential suit from the rakish man by both her Aunt Longmore and cousin Henrietta.

What follows is a series of unfortunate misunderstandings that may stand in the way of everyone's future happiness. And add to it a bit of intrigue - mystery always makes everything better, except when there are misunderstandings about it.

This was a fun read as the youngest Grantham sister gets her chance to shine in her chosen passion - astronomy. If you love clean reading regency romance - here is a new addition to your Fall TBR list. Bump it to the top and curl up in a favorite corner - it's that good.

Can wishing upon a star ever come true?

Abigail Grantham has always taken a keen interest in astronomy since her brother Sir John Grantham enlisted her aid as a young girl to keep records of his astronomical discoveries. Abigail is delighted when her uncle, Lord Longmore, invites her to stay at Longmore Hall in Buckinghamshire as he needs her assistance to compile a star chart.

When Abigail arrives at the Hall, her Aunt Longmore introduces her to local society. However, Abigail also spends a great deal of time in her uncle’s observatory, viewing the night skies alongside her uncle’s neighbor, fellow astronomer William, Viscount Rochvale.

Lord Rochvale is intrigued by Abigail, and when he discovers that they share an interest in ancient buildings and Roman history, he contrives to become better acquainted with her away from her uncle’s observatory, taking her to places of archaeological interest with a view to winning her heart. But the astronomical project they are working on makes courtship difficult, and William’s plans are further frustrated by his rakish cousin Gerald Burnby, who becomes a frequent visitor to Longmore Hall, seeking out Abigail too.

After a valuable Roman urn disappears from Longmore Hall, a series of mysterious occurrences unravel, presenting a puzzle Abigail has no idea how to solve. However, when events escalate into peril, Abigail discovers that it is the night sky that holds the secret to the missing urn—as well as to her stolen heart.

To Deceive a Kingdom ~ Review

To Deceive a Kingdom

A Princess & the Pea Retelling
(The Shattered Tales)
By Kathryn Radaker

Ceris never wanted to be a princess, much less pretend to be one. But an act of betrayal finds her in just such a position. Now her very good friend and member of the royal family, Evla, has Ceris caught in something she may not be able to get out of. How can she pretend to be a foreign princess who is come to work out the details of a royal alliance, so to speak, between the two countries? What's worse, she has to prove the power of her magic to even be considered worthy of this potential alliance. Ceris knows she doesn't have magic anywhere close to what a pure-blood, or near pure-blood, would possess.

Aieldir is a disappointment to his family. As heir to the Lianthiran throne he is expected to be better than he is and expected to marry the expected Searon princess. When Evla manages to find the nearly drowned Searon princess, Aieldir is bothered by something. Something he can't quite place. But when he does, he'll be faced with a decision - reveal what he knows, bide his time, or help the "princess" in her efforts.

To Deceive a Kingdom is part of the Shattered Tales series and is based on the Princess and a Pea. This is a unique retelling in that the revelation of personal magic is the test. And what a series of tests for someone who believed she could not perform such tasks. I found this to be a good read as the story unfolded, I was drawn deeper into it. This was definitely a late-night type of book, which isn't so good when you have an early morning (as in before 5:00 a.m. with less than 2 hours of sleep), but it was so worth the late afternoon lag!  This was the first book I've read by Kathryn Radaker, and look forward to more stories from her in the future. Fae, magic, and secrets what could be better - a touch of romance, of course, all while facing insurmountable difficulties!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Magic is dying. Everyone is lying.

Ceris is quite content in her role as a horse trainer’s assistant by day and medicinal smuggler by night. But when one of her closest friends betrays her and draws her into a plot of her own, Ceris has to pretend to be a foreign princess to save her smuggling ring…and herself. She may have to go so far as to marry the prince if she can’t find a way out of her friend’s scheme.

Aieldir was born a reluctant secret-keeper and raised to be King of the Lianthiran Fae. But his kingdom’s magic is weakening, and rumors of revolt are circulating. As the heir to the throne, the burden to marry a powerful princess from Searon and secure his kingdom’s future weighs heavily on his shoulders. But when his mysterious “princess” shows up half-drowned, he soon suspects she’s not who she claims to be.

Will Ceris let down her wall of deception long enough to see the man beneath the crown? Can Aieldir possibly put his future—and his heart—in the hands of a fraud? Or will their schemes and secrets shatter their fragile trust, dooming their kingdom as well as their own happily-ever-after?

Suspended in the Stars
Xerus Galaxy Saga #1
By E.A. Hendryx

When word reaches the Phenomena, aboard the circus spaceship Midway, that the Queen is dead, Talie must mask her true feelings that the news has awoken in her. Avoiding distractions is vital to her role as the Soaring Staress. One mistake could send her crashing to the ground. And that could be so very bad in more ways than one.

In the midst of her private thoughts, she is confronted by Renner Cartha, a rogue royal guard seeking refuge aboard the Midway. Not his best-thought-out plan but what he has to work with. Convincing Talie to help him just might be a little more difficult than he expected. Talie is determined to help, but Renner has to agree to her method of hiding him among the rest of the circus. Can you say fake romance?

But nothing is ever easy, and soon Renner and Talie have to stay two steps ahead of someone who seems uniquely talented in tracking Renner. But Renner is on a mission, a mission that is of vital importance. One that could determine the fates of many. (Cue dramatic music)

This book pulled me in from the first page. Each successive chapter added a new layer to the depth and intrigue of the story. There are secrets being kept by both Talie and Renner, which just adds to the intrigue. One has to wonder just what is so important to keep hidden. I have to admit I love space-themed adventure sci-fi fantasy that is well-written. And if there is a hint or two of romance or the potential of one even better. This book hits all of those little things that make for a book that I look forward to rereading. Even better, this is the first book in the Xerus Galaxy Saga, and I, for one, can't wait to get my hands on book two.

I received a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:
A girl in hiding. A boy on the run. The fate of the galaxy between them.
When Talie Zarna is forced to hide rogue soldier, Renner Cartha, her life isn't the only thing threatened. Living as the famed Soaring Staress on the circus spaceship Midway masks her true identity, but Renner's very presence threatens to draw unwanted attention.

Against the Wind
Secrets of Sweetwater Crossing #2
By Amanda Cabot

Louisa Vaughn is returning home after seven months away, she's been training as a midwife and a doctor and has no intention of staying in Sweetwater Crossing. But when she comes across an injured man, she has to help. And with no doctor in Sweetwater, she knows her couple days will be at least six weeks.

Joshua (Josh) Porter is determined to prove himself to his grandfather and be given control of the family business. But a broken leg, a missing horse, and his weeks of research for his plan for the family business may put a serious crimp in his plans. But laid up for six weeks with a broken leg, there's not much he can do to prove to his grandfather that he is the best man for the job.

Sweetwater Crossing is a welcoming place, but they aren't willing to accept Louisa as a doctor. In fact, some are more than a little unkind in their criticism of her just because a woman can't handle anything much or her intelligence is lacking. Even those she considered friends are skeptical of her skills.

As Louisa and Josh struggle with fighting for their futures and their dreams, they encourage one another while growing closer. But a future together is impossible as Josh's will take him to New York and Louisa's is in Sweetwater near her sisters.

This is the second book in the Secrets in Sweetwater Crossing series, and it picks up not too long past the conclusion of book one. Sweetwater is an interesting town - everyone knows everyone's business, and on the surface, they appear caring and concerned. But it's when you get to know them a little more that you realize that there are undercurrents of pettiness and cruelty. But it is overcoming these obstacles that strength of character is born (or discovered). In other words, it is like any place and time. I have to say I'm glad that Louisa was able to return to her home. And that she found a reason to remain and reestablish her damaged relationship with Emily. I found this to be an excellent read and am looking forward to the next book in the series. If you love post-Civil War Historical Fiction, you should enjoy this book.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Doctor-in-training Louisa Vaughn has no intention of remaining in Sweetwater Crossing. She's just there for a few days to help a friend. But she can't abandon the injured man she finds at the side of the road. Until his broken leg heals, she'll serve as the town's doctor and midwife. She may not be fully qualified yet, but surely she's better than nothing.

Josh Porter's plans to win his grandfather's challenge and fulfill his father's final wish to gain full control of the family business hit a roadblock when he breaks his leg. But his enforced stay in Sweetwater Crossing gives him new ideas about the expansion of the company into new territory--ideas Louisa could help turn into reality.

If only the town were more accepting of Louisa's talents! Someone is determined to convince her to abandon her dream of healing others. Can Josh help her uncover the person behind the threats before it's too late? And is there any future for them together when neither of them plans to stay?

Children of the Shadows ~ Review

Children of the Shadows by Erica Vetsch,

Children of the Shadows
Children of the Shadows
Thorndike & Swann Regency Mysteries #3
By Erica Vetsch

Detective Daniel Swann has to fight for his inheritance, which should have been his all along. But he must be silent so as to not upset the aristocracy, this includes not making public his intentions to ask for Juliette Thorndike's hand in marriage.

With her parents again called away on a mission, Juliette is told to consider her future. Does she truly want to be an agent for the Crown? Or has she succumbed to the excitement and thrill of doing something daring? With orders from her parents her immediate future is looking rather boring. Until rumors of missing street urchins are heard. Could Juliette do something to get to the answers of these whispered concerns? And could this provide her with an excuse to spend time with Daniel?

As with the previous two books in the series, there is an abundance of mystery. The issues involving Daniel's past and his claims to his rightful inheritance add  new complications to the lives of those closest to Juliette. As Daniel's past, present, and future all come to a point, he finds himself being pulled in different directions, even as he faced the possibility of breaking not only his heart but Juliette's. My only complaint with this book is that it is the conclusion to the series. I highly recommend this book and the series. If you love a good Regency era whodunit look no furthet.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Detective Daniel Swann and debutante Juliette Thorndike once again team up to solve a dangerous mystery--while trying to keep their growing romance secret.

Someone is preying upon the street children of Regency London. They seem to think no one will notice when urchins go missing--and even if they are noticed, who will care?

Daniel needs to do something about the missing children. But with recent revelations about his past and an unexpected, somewhat unwelcome inheritance to deal with, this is a terrible time to dive back into the seedy underbelly of the crime world. Nevertheless, he's still a Bow Street runner, and his partner Lady Juliette is sensitive to the plight of these wayward youngsters. They're on the case, searching shadowed alleys and coal-drenched streets to find the missing.

But the tangle of expectation and the dynamics of power cannot be easily ignored, even if there are children in danger. When Daniel's past threatens to overwhelm his future, he will need a miracle and the help of his friends to both apprehend the villain and unravel his tangled family web. And it may be that his new responsibilities demand that he leave the children of the shadows to their terrible fate--or lose everything.

Erica Vetsch's popular Regency mystery series concludes with a bang, sure to satisfy readers who have hung on every page since book one.

To Break a Silence ~ Review

To Break a Silence
A Little Mermaid Retelling
By Lydia Mae

I have to say I love all the Little Mermaid retellings that are coming out this year. Each is unique and utterly charming and To Break a Silence is no different in this respect. However the story is though there are easily identifiable aspects that mark this as retelling of the Little Mermaid. And as part of The Shattered Tales this is a perfect addition.

It is Stella's first time above the surface and she makes a mistake that dashes all her hopes and dreams of a life that includes visits above the surface of the sea. But she is given a chance to win the heart of the man who she rescued from the sea. But the magic that will transform her into a human will work for just a short time. And she'll have to pay a price for this magic - pain while walking and talking - shards of glass pain. Well, walking has to be done, but speaking -  that she can avoid. But getting her heart's desire without the use of her voice could prove challenging.

What Stella  hadn't expected was her utter lack of  being able to breath, swim, do anything while in the sea. In fact she needs a bit of help. When she is "found" by Captain Dillon Carvy, she gets herself into a bit of a situation - she is mistaken for someone else!

But Stella is determined to get her heart's desire and she'll use what little advantage she can get. And what is her heart's desire? To win the heart of the prince, of course. But said prince is betrothed to a princess. And when he is rescued he falls for his "rescuer," who is not Stella or the princess. Yikes, we have a tangle if ever there was one.

I have to say I like Stella and Dillon, but the prince, Percival can't say I was an instant fan of his. He definitely came off as entitled and left much to be desired in my opinion. But he did have a dimple so I guess that more than amply made up for his less than welcoming behavior (um, not!). Dillon is caught in the middle of everything - the prince nearly dying, losing his ship, his captaincy, disappointing his father and everything due to a siren's song. Determined to hunt down the siren who wrought all this destruction, he instead finds a young woman in need of his assistance. And a way to reclaim what he has lost.

Get ready to escape into a world of dreams, wishes, and choices. Time is a precious commodity that is all too quickly slipping away, will Stella Break her Silence before it is too late?

But there is another thread running through this story - forgiveness. And it is interesting how the various characters all need to give or ask for it. As one character says, "Everyone needs forgiveness." I think this was a pivotal moment in a personal, internal way. All too often that is how realizations come.

This is a delight that you won't want to miss. And the conclusion was not what I was expecting, or rather how it came about was a nice and unique touch.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:

A siren's song holds power over skies and men.

Stella has never seen the sky until the day she speaks her oaths and is brought above the surface. After her first encounter with a land-walker's ship forces her to sing up a storm that pulls a prince into the water, she chooses to rescue him.

When Stella's blossoming affection for the prince is threatened by another, she makes a choice to trade her fins for legs. The price: phantom glass in her throat if she dares to use her voice and in her feet when she walks.

Captain Dillon Carvy is determined to have his revenge after a siren’s song costs him his ship and his favored position as the prince's captain. While searching for signs of the siren, Dillon discovers a struggling maiden instead. Pulling a silent girl from the sea, he sees the perfect opportunity to gain his position back.

A case of mistaken identity puts Stella right where she wants to be in the prince's palace. But unless she breaks her silence, continuing her charade may cost her the happiness she hopes for, and quite possibly her life.

To Break a Silence is a retelling of A Little Mermaid. It is one of twelve novellas in The Shattered Tales, a collection of twelve fractured retellings of your favorite fairy tales. They can be enjoyed in any order, so fall in love with the swoony sweet romance, magical adventures, and tale-shattering twists one happily-ever-after at a time!

Guard Her Heart ~ Review

Guard Her Heart

Crown of Promise #2
By Hannah Currie
Published by WhiteCrown

Lady Mykah feels the call to aid those who are in need. She has never questioned that. But she has kept her identity secret as she moves through the night, leaving aid at the door of those whose needs she knows. But Mykah has made an enemy, an enemy who seeks her death.

Sir Finnigan has long sought his elder brother's approval. He's never questioned the orders he's been given until now. When Finnigan shoots and nearly kills the young woman who stole his heart years ago, he determines that his loyalty lies not with his brother but with the king and the young woman known as the Guardian of Raedonleith.

Determined to make amends for his actions, Finnigan rides to give warning and to win the heart of the lady who captured his heart years ago.

I really enjoyed this book, which is set in the time of knights and chivalry. It was interesting watching events unfold and seeing how the various characters were woven together. Even more so when saw events from differing perspectives. Who do you trust, and who do you hold at arm's length. I liked Mykah, but I also felt her feelings about Finnigan were most interesting, considering her position on other matters.  And I felt Finnigan showed a strength of character in both his dealings with his brother and his later efforts in Raedonleith.  This is the second book in the Crown of Promise series but it can be read as a standalone title. I'm sure the first book provides information that would explain more about King Lior and Mykah's sister Evangeline, but it could easily be read later to answer any questions that arise while reading.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:

To all bar a few, the Guardian of Raedonleith is a mystery. To Lady Mykah, the second daughter of King Lior, it’s her calling. For the past four years, the mask has given Mykah a way to care for her people in her father’s stead while she hides from them how distant their king has become. She has never questioned her mission or thought the cost too high—until the night an arrow finds her. Though she has the courage of a knight and the calling of the Almighty, Mykah admits she would have died if not for the man who carried her to safety. A man who is as determined to keep his identity hidden as she is.

Six years ago, Sir Finnian lost his heart to a mysterious young archer. Though he searched, he never learned her name until the night he shot her…on his brother’s orders. Wracked with guilt, Finnian makes protecting Lady Mykah his new mission, never guessing how difficult it will prove to be. The Guardian has more enemies than she knows, and they’re closer than she realizes.

The longer Finnian stays, the clearer the price of his vow becomes. Because the only way to win Mykah’s heart will be to break his own. And the only way to keep hers beating will be to break it altogether.

About the Author:

Hannah Currie has loved royals—both real and fictional—for as long as she can remember and has always been fascinated by their lives. They started making their way into her writing somewhere around first grade and never stopped.

While she never dreamed of being a princess for real (way too many expectations and people watching), she certainly wouldn’t say no to the gorgeous gowns, endless wardrobes, chefs, and cleaners that come with the job. A crown or two wouldn’t go astray either. Or Belle’s library. Where she’d just sit and stare at the books with a giddy smile on her face for hours.

Hannah lives with her husband and three kids in Australia, where they proudly claim Queen Elizabeth II and the royal family as their own. She is very honored to be one of the launching authors for the new WhiteCrown Publishing line with her Crown of Promise series full of faith, romance, and—of course—royals.

Lost and Found ~ Review

Lost and Found
By Suzanne Woods Fisher

Sometimes we allow the holds of the past to take root and keep us from actually moving on, from growing up. This is a story of friendship that has the hope of becoming something more, until a message from the past convinces Micah Weaver to take actions he might not have.

Trudy Yoder has long had feelings for Micah. But for years Micah could only see her older sister Shelley. But their shared enjoyment over birding, finding that one unique bird, locating a hidden nest has allowed them to form a friendship. And now Trudy has hopes for a future with Micah. But then Shelley intrudes even though she is miles and miles way. And until Micah can truly decide what he wants she will always be a second choice.

This book is set in Stoney Ridge, which is a little like visiting a familiar haunt. The setting and characters are comfortable and known (IF you've read any of the author's other Stoney Ridge books /series). And what is nice about this book is if you haven't read any previous Stoney Ridge books you can fully enjoy this one. The author writes in such a way that each book can be read as a standalone title. The story is complete in and of itself.

I feel that that this book is a story about growing up. Yes, Micah is in all senses of the word a grown-up but he needs to mature internally. He needs to make the decision to move on in his life to the next place that he needs to be. This doesn't mean physically moving, though it is a possibility for those living in Stoney Ridge. No rather this is a mental moving forward, a mindset to move on to the next phase of his life. And this journey is one that offers a most intriguing story in the process.

I really like books that are about internal growth. And no this isn't a self-help book but rather in the entertaining it provides an opportunity to look internally at one's own life. And it is just a subtle thread so if you are reading just for the story it isn't something that will jump out and go "Look at this. Key moment of internal change coming up." No I think it is something that is all about mindset and during the reading certain scenes they just clicked with me.

But no matter how you read this was an enjoyable book and one I would recommend. It isn't a heavy read and easily read over a few days or if you like to consume your books as soon as you get them a long afternoon could certainly be undertaken and enjoyed. And the title Lost and Found perfectly suits.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:
Trudy Yoder shares a passion for birding with Micah Weaver--and she has an even greater passion for Micah. Their friendship is finally turning romantic when Micah abruptly grows cold. Worse still, he wants to leave Stoney Ridge.

Micah Weaver thought he was over Trudy's older sister. A year and a half ago, Shelley had broken his heart when she ran away from Stoney Ridge to pursue a singing career in Nashville. Then, out of the blue, she's started to leave distressing phone messages for him.

When the bishop asks for volunteers to scout out a possible church relocation in Tennessee, Micah is the first to raise his hand. Despite scant details, he's confident he can find Shelley. After all, his reputation as a field guide is based on finding birds that don't want to be found.

What Micah doesn't know is that what you're looking for isn't always what you find.

On Moonberry Lake ~ Review

On Moonberry Lake
By Holly Varni

When her mother moved Cora Matthews away from her grandparents and their home on Moonberry Lake she never felt like she belonged or was home. Worse for years she thought her grandparents were dead because of her mother's lie. But now she knows the truth, but too late to reconnect with her grandparents. But she has inherited their home on Moonberry Lake. And it couldn't come at a better time. Her life is in flux; her mother has just died and her fiancé is now her ex-fiancé.

I really enjoyed this book as Cora works to deal with her past while trying to understand why her mother took her away all those years ago. As she connects with those who knew her grandparents and makes connections of her own, she has to decide if she is willing to settle down and call Moonberry Lake home or do as she has always done - move on and start over.

I really enjoyed this book from Holly Varni who is a new author to me. The setting is contemporary. And who doesn't enjoy a lake setting for no reason other than the peacefulness it portrays. I felt that Cora's growth as a character was what propelled the story. Why did she do what she did and how is returning to the one place she always felt was home change her? This is the story, and I felt it worked well with the various characters who entered her life, offering her insights and new motivations. This is a contemporary romance, and it is, but the romance isn't the focus but rather the thread that works its way in and slowly grows as a possibility. I would recommend this book as it was an enjoyable read and yet not one that intrudes but rather like a good friend who stops in to say, "Hey, how's your day?" You visit and then get on with your day, happier for the exchange.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

Cora Matthews's life is a mess. A broken engagement and the unexpected death of her mother have left her wondering if things will ever return to normal. Whatever "normal" is.

It certainly isn't what she finds at Moonberry Lake. After she receives her family's dilapidated lakefront lodge as an inheritance--with a surprising condition attached--Cora finds her life overrun by a parade of eccentric neighbors who all have something to say and something to teach her.

As Cora works to put her life back together, she must decide if she is willing to let go of the past, open her heart to love, and embrace the craziest version of family and home she could ever have imagined.

Better Watch Out ~ Review

Better Watch Out
Defensemen Romantic Holiday Adventure #1
By Natalie Walters

Frankie Frost, such a good name for someone visiting New York City at Christmas time, has just had her heart broken by her now ex.  And her big brother is more than urging her to leave NYC behind and visit family in D.C., so not Frannie's plan. But concerned brother Ryan knows best!

When Ryan Frost reaches out to Andrew Bishop, a whole series of events is set into motion, including an incident with pepper spray. Let's just say it was painful.

Despite Frannie's objections that she can handle herself, Andrew finds himself in protection mode. Not easy, but he's up for some challenges, if only he didn't have a protection detail to get to, like immediately. And it is obvious that Frannie has no idea what dangers walk the streets of New York, but he does.

This reads like a Hallmark movie, the only this missing is some fun Christmas music playing in the background. Can a broken heart find a potential new love, one that is true amid the hustle and bustle of NYC during Christmas? Well, you'll need to read the book and find out. You won't be sorry. This is a cute read with some fun moments. And with a cast of supporting characters, one can only hope for more Defensemen Holiday Romances.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.

About the Book:
An accidental meet-cute, a case of mistaken identity, and a bucket-list of Christmas activities befitting a Hallmark movie make this holiday romantic adventure the perfect Christmas read.

Leave the candy canes, take the pepper spray!

Nothing screams Christmas like a week spent ice skating, visiting Santa, and sharing a kiss or two under the mistletoe. Frannie Frost has crafted the perfect bucket list of romantic activities to surprise her boyfriend in the most magical place at Christmas time—New York City. When he unexpectedly becomes her ex, her plans are derailed leaving her with a choice. Wallow in self-pity at Christmas time or take matters into her own hands.

Former NHL defenseman turned personal protection agent, Andrew Bishop, loves his job—when things go as planned—but Frannie Frost is definitely not part of the plan. Still, when her brother, the man who saved Andrew’s life last year, asks him to deliver his sister safely to the airport, he can’t say no.

The only problem? Frannie isn’t leaving. She’s determined to make the most of her trip by checking off a bucket list of cliché Christmas actives that would make even Santa’s elves jealous. Andrew’s content to let her go until he learns that Frannie’s been mistaken for his client and thrust into the midst of danger.
