CSFF August Blog Tour ~ A Cast of Stone/A Hero's Lot Day 2

A Cast of Stones and The Hero's Lot
The Staff and The Sword Books 1 and 2
By Patrick W. Carr

I was struck by the lust of power that drives the story.  The old statement power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely (and great men are almost always bad men.) seems to hold true for many of the characters.  But the question is why does the quest for power corrupt?  Is it truly this desire that corrupts the heart or was the heart corrupt all along and the the position of power just gave it the freedom to show its true self?

When we go to the Bible we see that we are all driven by our hearts.  What is in them will eventually come out for all to see.

Luke 6:45 - A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the
evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

Matthew 12:34 - O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

But we don't need to stay in our corruptible state because

1 Peter 1:23 - Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

We like Errol can be remade.  We can turn from the desire for power and instead turn to the true power God or as He is referred to in this series Deas.
