Broken Wings
Angel Eyes Trilogy Book 2
Shannon Dittemore
Brielle is having nightmares and the halo can't stop them. But what is the significance of these dreams?
This aspect made me start thinking about dreams. We all have them, even if we don't remember them. Have you ever had a dream that seemed to really stand out to you? Why? Was there a significance to it or was just a dream?
Since the Angel Eyes Trilogy deals with angels and demon I decided to see what the Bible had to say about dreams. And you are the beneficiary of my search, though only on a limited scale because I'm still looking! Here's what I've discovered so far...
I Kings 3:5 ESV At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.”
Genesis 28:12 ESV And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!
Psalm 16:7 NIV I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
Genesis 41:15-16 NIV Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.” “I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.”
Daniel 2:19 ESV Then the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven.
Acts 16:9 NIV During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”
Dreams seem to be a way God communicates with his people. But we need to be wary of dreams as well because we are also warned in the Bible about dreams. See Jeremiah 29:8 NIV Yes, this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “Do not let the prophets and diviners among you deceive you. Do not listen to the dreams you encourage them to have.”
How do we know that a dream is indeed from God or one of our own making? We must turn to God in prayer and ask others to pray on our behalf for guidance and we must turn to the Scriptures as well.
Has God given you a dream that is pressing on your heart? If so what is He telling you? It is a path to choose for tomorrow or is it a warning that the path that you've chosen is the wrong one?
What do you think? Comment below and let me know! Do you have a favourite Scripture passage about dreams? There are so many, what's yours?
Yes, I know favourite can also be spelled favorite, but I have a fondness for KJV spellings after 12+ years of school even if spell-check disagrees in the RED! But then spell-check doesn't like my name either. ;D

I've heard that God is especially speaking to people in non-Christian nations (like Muslim nations for instance) through dreams, which is pretty neat....God will make a way.
ReplyDeleteAs for me, I don't generally remember my dreams, and I don't mind that. :#/
