Sisters at Heart
By Ann Shorey
Rosemary Saxon is estranged from her mother and father because she served as a nurse for the North during the war that both divided a nation and families. Having settled in Noble Springs, Missouri along with her brother Curt, Rosemary is determined to make her own way even if it means working as a nurse for Doctor Elijah Stewart.
But will the potions and tonics Rosemary prepares for those in need destroy her opportunity to work with Doctor Stewart or can Elijah see the benefits of Rosemary's freshly prepared cures.
But someone in Noble Springs fears Rosemary's cures and is determined to stop her with threats and possibly something even more permanent. Can Rosemary trust her troubles to God and Sheriff Cooper? Or will the past prevent her from sharing her troubles with those who can help her the most?
With two suitors vying for her heart who will Rosemary choose? Who holds the key to Rosemary's heart - Jacob West or Elijah Stewart? But when trouble comes yet again into her life threatening to once again fracture her heart, what will she decide? Stay and fight for what her heart desires or run away yet again denying her heart healing?
When the Heart Heals is an interesting look at medicine in the years immediately following the Civil War and the roll woman were expected to play in the field of medicine. I also found the views of the various characters on the "home remedies" Rosemary prepared to be interesting as well. When Heals the Heart was an enjoyable book that held my attention until the very end and I read it in one night because I quite literally couldn't put it down until I found out what happened next.
I received this book from the publisher for the purpose of this review and all opinions expressed are my own
