23 year old Courtney Beckham loves to run and usually does so in Big Cottonwood Canyon.  Courtney's life is full with college and working for her dad.  But as full as her life is she just can't find the right guy, all the guys she dates don't want to get to know her and are only after action.

With her parents planning to take a long week-end, Courtney makes plans for her own week-end now that she has broken up with Sean.  Courtney accepts an invitation to go boating with Corbin Whittier on Saturday. But when Courtney decides to go horseback riding before her date her life takes an unexpected turn.

When a ransom demand of $10,000,000 comes in with a picture of Courtney in her abused battered condition the FBI is called in and agents Jason Edwards and Pierson are assigned the case.  As they investigate something feels off to Jason and he worries that Courtney's kidnapping may be more complex than they realized.

When Courtney overhears a phone conversation and recognizes the caller id she is shocked at the betrayal. Courtney makes her escape attempt and to elude her captors she hides in the underbrush for the night.

As the FBI tries to put together a case against Courtney's kidnappers they can't find any hard evidence or even the men who grabbed her.  Can Jason and Courtney survive long enough to finger the kidnappers or will their fate remain unknown? But what seemed certain is in doubt and who is the true criminal?

Caller ID is an exciting thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat and in suspense until the very end. With a touch of romance thrown in for good measure! Caller ID is also a story of self-discovery as Courtney comes to terms of who she really is and why she is the way she is - a book of second chances!

Hi Rachelle, I'd like to thank you for your time and for providing some insight into Caller ID.

Caller ID is very intense and detailed, how much research did you put into it? And where did the idea come from?

Thank you. I got the idea from a few different news stories I saw. I kept thinking about the story and wondered, What if? I did research quite a bit, from interviewing police officers, FBI agents, and undercover drug task force members to studying into how to produce certain drugs.

How much of yourself did you put into the various characters and which one do you most identify with?

This book was different in that respect. I didn’t feel there was much of me. Instead, I identified several different character traits from people I know and blended them to create Courtney’s character and others.

As a mother how do you identify with Courtney's mother and how she must be feeling during the ordeal of Courtney's abduction?

I think that would be one of the most frightening things that could happen to a mother.

You brought back Agent Jason Edwards from Wrong Number, is there any chance that he will be brought back in a third book?

Hmm, you know I did leave some possibility for that, but I’m not sure. Right now I’m working on a new series and having a lot of fun, so I’ve kind of switched gears. But I always have new ideas . . .

Caller ID seems to be about second chances, was this your intention or was it just a by-product of the story?

It wasn’t my intention at first, but as I fleshed out the characters and story line, I kept coming back to that point. For me, it helped the characters really come to life and it was a great way to introduce a few more twists. J

Is there anything that you wish readers would take away from Caller ID?

I want people to have the opportunity to read a good book without all the trash, and I hope mine provides a great escape for a few hours. Reading is one of my favorite escapes from the dirty diapers, dishes, and laundry around my house.

Is there any question as a writer you wish someone would ask you about your work? And if so how would you answer?

Well, I get a lot of questions from people who want me to tell them in a short paragraph how they can become a successful writer. I never want to discourage, but I do wish that people would recognize writing as a skill and a profession that doesn’t happen overnight. I have been studying, attending conferences, classes, and have been a member of critique groups for nearly ten years and I still think there is so much to learn that it blows my mind. So, I guess I wish that people would ask me how they could get started on the path to becoming a great writer, instead of how can I get my book published today?
