A Daring Sacrifice ~ Review

A Daring Sacrifice
An Uncertain Choice #2
By Jody Hedlund

Lord Collin Goodrich has returned to his family's estate after his years of training and service to the Noblest Knight.  Though he was disappointed in not winning the heart of the fair Rosemarie, he is content with his life.  But a chance encounter with the Cloaked Bandit changes everything.

For three years the Cloaked Bandit has been poaching and robbing the nobility of Wessex.  This mysterious person has never ventured off the Wessex lands until now.  Unfortunately for the Cloaked Bandit, Lord Collin is unlike any previous targets.  And most disturbing Lord Collin may actually be able to figure out her identity...

Lady Juliana is nothing like the fair maiden who's heart Collin tried to win.  But Juliana has a fiery spirit that rivals her hair and intrigues Collin.  Can this truly be the same young maiden he met years ago?  The true ruler of Wessex that has been presumed dead?

Betrayal forced Juliana from her home and as a result she has come to despise all who claim the rank of nobility.  Can Collin persuade Juliana that nobility does not equate evil? He has one week to prove his point, as does she.

But keeping Juliana's true identity hidden may be a greater challenge than either of them anticipated. And keeping this secret is vital to their survival and the survival of all those whom they hold dear.

To free the land and the people from their oppression will require a sacrifice - but who will be willing to pay the ultimate price?

Those who have read the previous book in this series will enjoy getting to know Collin better. Juliana and Collin both have good hearts but they both have lessons that they need to learn to become better people, better leaders.  A Daring Sacrifice will delight young readers who are looking for a heroine that they can admire.

I was provided an advanced copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

About the Book:

Juliana is intrigued by Collin and his charms,
but only time will tell if he can overcome her distaste of the nobility
as well as win her heart.

In a reverse twist on the Robin Hood story, a young medieval maiden stands up for the rights of the mistreated, stealing from the rich to give to the poor. All the while, she fights against her cruel uncle who has taken over the land that is rightfully hers.

Forced to live in the woods and hide with the poor people she's grown to love, she works to save and protect them, but she never anticipates falling in love with the wealthy knight who represents all she's come to despise.
