A Secret to Die For ~ Review

A Secret to Die For
By Lisa Harris

Grace Callahan knows that this is going to be a rough week-it's the anniversary of the day that changed her whole world. She just had no idea just how much rougher it was about to get. When her name brings the police to her door she is shocked that the client she had seen hours ago is now dead. Stephen Shaw seemed paranoid but it went with the job in Grace's opinion, now she's having to rethink that assessment because someone things that she was left with something that they want. The only problem Grace has absolutely no idea what they are referring to.

The last thing Detective Nate Quinn wants to deal with after a 3-month absence is having to deal with a murder on his first day back. And when they find a link to the victim and Grace Callahan, a name from Nate's college days, he and his partner are sent to interview Grace.

A break-in at Grace's home and office soon has everyone on high alert and a cryptic message on her phone from Stephen just adds to the tension. And when evidence begins pointing in a possible cyberattack that could bring the country to a standstill they find themselves in a race not only against time but whoever had Stephen murdered.

A Secret to Die For appears to be a standalone novel which means there is no backstory that you have to be concerned about missing out on. The book opens on the action drawing the reader in with the first line, "A sharp clatter jerked Grace Callahan out of the...". I mean seriously doesn't that just grab you? What was that clatter? And what was Grace jerked away from?

Several issues are dealt with in this story including loss of a child, divorce, and PTSD. These issues play an integral roll in how the various characters react to the events that unfold. As this book is classified as Romantic Suspense you know that there will be a dash of romance thrown in with a heavy dose of suspense. For some, the romance may seem a little cliche but this is a book with limited pages within which everything has to unfold. Fans of Lisa Harris will enjoy this newest work and for those who have not yet read her, this is a good choice for trying her out.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell with no expectation other than that I offer my honest opinion.
