Last Chance Hero ~ Review

Last Chance Hero
A Place to Call Home 4
By Cathleen Armstrong

After At Home at Last Chance I wasn't expecting another Last Chance book, but I can honestly say I was thrilled to learn a fourth book was coming out.

Small town local football hero Andy Ryan is returning to Last Chance after time in the NFL.  And Last Chance couldn't be happier to welcome him back home as the new high school football coach.

Jessica MacLeod's dream has been to be a doctor in a small town and Last Chance, New Mexico, fits into her plans.  But there is just one small problem - Jess doesn't know the first thing about football and she has no plans to change that.  But Last Chance LOVES its football, so something will need to change - the question is who or what...

All your favorite characters are back - ready to welcome you back into their homes and their lives. There is Rita Sandoval the take-charge mayor who is determined to get Last Chance on the map. And everyone's favorite Dip 'n' Dine waitress Juanita Sheppard.  And my personal favorite Elizabeth Cooley - gotta love her!

Last Chance is hoping to return to the glory days when Andy was a player and the team was undefeated.  But the past is the past and the present is unique unto itself as Last Chance is about to discover.

Though this is the fourth book in the series, it can stand alone.  If you haven't read the first three books you can get to know the town and its residents with Jess.  Get ready to fall in love with small town living - where your business is now everyone's and secrets aren't meant to be kept.  I hope this is a town that we will be able to revisit yet again.

I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

About the Book:
What happens when your heart is intercepted before you even know it's in play?

The folks in Last Chance, New Mexico, could not be more pleased. Dr. Jessica MacLeod has opened an office right on Main Street and Andy Ryan, the best athlete the little town ever produced, has come home from the NFL to coach the high school football team. Unfortunately, Dr. Jess immediately gets off on the wrong foot with this football-obsessed town when she admits that she's never seen a football game, isn't really interested in doing so, and in fact doesn't know a first down from a goalpost.

Despite having little in common, Jess and Andy find themselves drawn to each other. But when a disagreement over the future of an injured player puts them both on the defensive, it begins to look like this game is over . . .
